Difference between Injection Bupivacaine Heavy and Injection Bupivacaine ?
The main difference between Inj. Bupivacaine Heavy and inj. bupivacaine is that bupivacaine heavy contains dextrose in it which makes it hyperbaric ( so that the drug settles down in lower part of spinal canal and the effect of spinal block remains up to the puncture site i.e. L3-L4 ) whereas in inj bupivacaine no such dextrose is present.

The main active drug Bupivacaine Hydrochloride ( 0.5% or 5mg ) is same in both and is used to block nerves.
other differences are
- Anawin Heavy comes in Amplue of 4 ml whereas as Anawin comes in Vial of 20 ml .
- Anawin heavy is used in Spinal anesthesia whereas Anawin is used in regional blocks .
